Driving up Silver Creek road this morning about 8:00 I had to slow down as two boars shuffled across the street. They had just come from freshly disturbing somebodies lovely landscaped yard or perhaps the golf course and were heading back to bed. The lead boar was red and white and I estimate about 250lbs +-, and the trailing boar was shiny black and even bigger than the first one. Huge teeth I could see his cutters as he shuffled along from 40yds distance. This is all inside the city limits of San Jose.
Later after work I took my dog for a run in the Park. Were walking down this slickery trail when I realize Im stepping in lion tracks. I stop to check them out and my dog is got her nose buried in them. About twenty more feet and I spot deer hide. a small strip about an inch wide and 10 inches long, I thopught it was a tail until i notice fresh skin. I look around and up ahead twenty more feet I find the kill zone. A massive tangle of cat and deer tracks, blood and fur. Since it rained this morning I'm pretty sure the kill took place during the rain but not long before it ended as all the tracks were still realatively clean and sharp edged. I spot an area in the grass where the deer was dragged off so i decide to let the dog follow it.. On a 15ft. lead and I started looking up and arpound instead of down at the ground. The carcass was dragged about 100yds downhill into an open field. All four legs were removed at the elbows and from there down were intact. The head was still attached to the spine. But there was not an ounce of meat on the rest of it. from the looks of the tracks it might have been a small female with cubs but the deer maybe a 2 year old doe was unbeleivably fresh. It was eerie and cool at the same time. The really interesting thing is there are two elementary schools within 1000yds of the site. Lions have been spotted there many times before and the place has never been posted to my knowledge. Again this is inside the city limits of San Jose. What a really great place this is for a family outing!

I'll be sure to bring my camera up next time i walk the dog maybe a 9mm too!

I drive to San Jose along Uvas rd, which turns into Mckean, them Almaden. I often see pigs feeding in a field adjacent to Calero resivior. I'm familiar with San Jose and have a friend who lives by the 101/87 interchange who gets pigs coming into her neighborhood. Another friend lives by Bernal rd, accross from Santa theresa golf course, same thing. I wish they would open up some of these places for hunting. would'nt that be great.

You should see the dump out off of Coleman Rd. There are all kinds of pigs around that dump. Also, Alum Rock Park is loaded with pigs.

If you've got a school within 1,000 yards of a fresh lion kill, you might want to pass that info discreetly on to the DFG (the "spot") and let them decide if the situation warrants bringing in a fed to tame that lion.......

Freediver:
the incident was on the local news so I'm confident DFG was aware of it.
Remember this is California. They probably would make us move the school.
