Those little ones are the kind my uncle loves to BBQ. It's cool to be able to take as many as you want and by however you like. Do y'all trap them or just shoot them as needed?

I just got access to this property of 117 acres. (We recently moved from CA to TX) It has been in my wife's family for around 100 years and it has been leased for cattle grazing and nothing else. No roads, heavy woods and overgrown mesquite. It is hard to get around on my ATV so I have just been shooting them when I can. One shot and they will disappear into woods.

I got you. My uncle hunts a couple thousand acres and uses a trap to get hogs in addition to just stalking them when he can. He tells me the best eating are in the 50-60lb range. Just BBQ the hole pig. Our whole family is in Texas. My father the Lt. Col brought us out to Cali and we have not made it home yet. Looking to end up around Georgetown. I have family all over so just need to get to gods country and start living the good life. Another family member just got 89 acres of land in the WO ranch. They got a crew to help clear some of the land that they want to build on. Hope you are having fun out there. It's a lot different than California. thanks for sharing with us.

Take your time to try pattern them on the property even though they are nomadic they will work an area for a while at a time if it’s has good resources and even it’s an overgrown jungle there has to be some main in and out routes between the bordering properties, try to walk the fence lines where u can u might find damage to the fence where they squeeze thourgh and their Travel route. u can create some bait trails spots around the property with feed to get the pigs into a regular travel route pattern around the property and then set up tree stands with shooting lanes, just keep the bait piles freshened up through the whole year, when they can’t find their natural food sources they will look for those bait piles. And use a bow or crossbow to hunt with so u don’t scar them off like with a gun. All easier said then done but some ideas to think about. I have 50 acres in upstate N.Y. That grew into a jungle over the years and very limited to getting around without a machete or bulldozer but I know that cover is great for whitetails to play around in hopefully by this October I can make it up to the property for whitetail bow season. Well good luck on gettin it done look forward to future post........tra

p.s. Use a drone to scout the property if possible.....

Sounds like some careful planning and judicious use of a lil Bobcat dozer are in order for making a nice meandering truck trail for ya!
