I'm sure that this has probably been asked and it may be a stupid question but, I'm new.

Are there any public lands in the Riverside/San Berdoo areas for hunting pigs? I am not asking for anybody's spot, just if there is anything out there. I am aware that there are some pay to play ranches nearby but, I would also like to try public land.

I heard there were wild pigs in the Santa Anna River in Riverside...but you can't hunt there county property or something like that. I would head North and check out the Tejon Ranch!

The Santa Ana River Bottom is in my backyard. There has been posts in the past trying to verify the legality of hunting down there. I have personally had a few chats with the head ranger over at the Hidden Valley Wildlife area and he is pretty adamant that there is no hunting in the river bottom(From Van Buren to the 15 Frwy). However, rumor has it that if you head down towards the Chino area there is some properties that back up to the River where hunting is permitted. Best to get permission first.

There are hogs in San Timoteo Canyon. From what I understand it is not a large population of pigs, however they are there for sure. My Dad has worked many graveyard shifts for many years patroling this area and has had a few encounters with pigs (seeing them run across the road, hearing them in the bushes) while on traffic stops. There has also been pig vs. vehicle accident reports taken in this area.

sorry guys but you can't hunt those areas. You used to be able to hunt the river bottom but that was stopped a couple of years ago. The horse pepole complained to much and that put an end to hunting there.

Was reading through "Afoot and afield in San Diego County" and the author talks about seeing hogs in the Agua tibia wildnerness area of Cleveland National Forest. That is a walk in area only in San Diego/riverside county. Agua tibia is supposed to be rough terrain and isn't visited a lot. Have not been there myself.

I remember the days when I would drive the backroads in San Timeto Canyon and hunt the escapees from BCR. That was goodtime. DFG even put out pigtraps to help catch the hogs. Those days are longggggggggggggggg gone. My suggestion is just "knock & talk"..You never know what you might get...50 "no's" and that one "yes" is all it takes....Goodluck..

About 2 years back I had permission from some property owners along the riverbed in the Riverside/Norco area. Many pigs seen and many pigs whacked. It took about 4 months of scouting and knocking on doors to get to just the right person who hooked me up. Just remember, the time you put into talking to people and helping them will be greatly rewarded and will be well worth it. Don't give up, there are some private property areas left along there. By the way, our average hogs from in there were around 200 lbs with the largest topping out at just over 400 lbs!!!!!! Good luck.
