I saw little bitty specks of 6 black animals lined up going straight uphill on the steep canyon in the west side on Tejon off Grapevine yesterday late afternoon.

Are there hogs in that side of Tejon? Those black specks of animals are inside Tejon property.

Or am I just delirious dreamin' of another Tejon hunt?

Well, if it were anybody else, I'd tell you they were hogs. But knowing you, you're probably just delirious and jonesing for another Tejon Hunt!

I must be. A day before that, while the whole family ate breakfast at Dennis, I skipped mine and spent the time glassing the North side off Tejon canyon, hills and draws. And where every rock and dark objects look like hog.

I have to have my fix soon.

Thanks! How's my friend and bringer of good luck?

Been waiting for your post, but not seen any.

Have you been chasing deer? Or have you settled down finally and got tied down (literally and figuratively) with the 'ol girlfriend?

Things are good here, shot at some dove last week, other than that I just keep looking for places to hunt pigs close to home. Deer don't interest me much anymore, though the kid (13, with a brand new licence and my old 30-30) wants to be a deer hunter so maybe I'll give it a go again. I do plan on being at Tejon next year for the POR rifle hunt. So until we meet again my friend, be careful and have a good time!

I thought the areq from quail lake to the check-in station east to the radio antenna was private property.

underone,

Tejon is private property. The ranch on the North and South side has lots of pigs. They have a sliver of property on the West side. But with Interstate 5 bisecting the property, I would think that it will be impossible for the pigs to cross the freeways. Hence, my question.

I don't know if this helps or adds to the confusion, but last December while quail hunting in the Lockwood Valley area, we came across a lower jaw of a hog, with 1 1/2" tusks. The size of the jaw looked like a medium sized boar, probably 150-180 lbs. We found no other bones around, just the sun bleached bottom jaw. Wierd, but the thought was that maybe the pigs have migrated west a bit from the ranch. Probably just a matter of time anyway....

My thoughts -- and hopes -- exactly.

And, I understand that they are already spread in the East to Tehachapi.

On my way down the Grapevine to hunt the north east side of the Tejon two years ago I saw 2 very large pigs in full gate running along the hillsides of the West side of the freeway. It looked as if they were trying to race the cars on the freeway. It was an awesome site!!

Hey, I'm not delirious after all!

Anyone seen it spread to Frazier Park and Pinos yet? ...and soon to the southernmost side of Los Padres.
