It might be ridiculous but we don't have anywhere near the problem with hogs that the ranchers in Texas do. I've hunted in Texas and in most places the hogs live, "hunting" doesn't accurately describe it, it's shooting. I've seen hogs run in the brush after getting shot at and come back out 20 minutes later, never seen that here in Cali!

When the price of barley was worth growing, the ranchers in central CA wanted the hogs dead. Now the only thing they're destroying of any value are golf courses, neighborhood lawns, and state parks. None of which we the people are allowed to hunt.

Comparing the wild hog situation in California with the hog situation in Texas is definitely apples and oranges.

We still, at the moment, live in a country with a free market economy. We only have ourselves to blame for the rising prices on hunts. If the demand wasn't so high the prices wouldn't be either...

Sorry, we've been steering the locals down San Diego way to unload some of the pressure up here in the Inland Empire.

Ain't no hogs here either. :hog chewing: Swear.

as the hog pop. aint anywhere close to Texas... its only a matter of time and when it gets to that point.. well itll be to late. apples and oranges? maybe but 5 years can make a huge difference. Just my opinion not starting an argument... I just dont like the thought of A 600-800$ hog hunt

We've had hogs in California since the 1700's, it is what it is. Hogs don't like the desert. If this was a normal year or a drought year the hogs in San Diego county would be confined to very specific drainages. There really isn't anything for them to destroy around here...unless you like golf. Oh yeah, and all those endangered plants, boo hoo.
