Just seen a short preview of an upcoming Explorer show to air next Sun. at 8pm about Hogzilla on the National Geographic Channel. The preview showed people digging an area up and so I assume it to be the same infamous hog that made the headlines all over the place and had everyone all worked up. I assume it is a new show..sorry if not..

If you goto this link you can get them to email you so you don't forget to watch. Just click on the Info button next to the program schedule...

So it turned out to be a cross bread wild/domestic 7 footer from nose to tail, and about 800 lb. estimated weight... Was a little confusing on how wild it was but the investigative team still seemed shocked about the overall size and the fact that the tusks make a full circle. So the myth is sort of debunked but not as it is perhaps the largest ever taken..They made sure to drop the hints that it may have been fed and groomed to bring in the high paying hunters...
I think shooter could have put on some camo hunting gear instead of the dumb white T-shirt..

I just caught the show on NG Explorer last night. Holy crap did they make a mess of that show. The over dramatization was stagering. They showed a guy hunting down and shooting a nice hog, lets say 200# for the sake of argument. BUT, they were commenting on how he had to stay at a safe distance for safety sake. He shot from about 100 yards and down went the piggy. And a darn good thing too according to NG or that guy would have been toast when the piggy came to take his revenge for being shot at

Oh yeah, that and they showed the new coverage area for wild hogs that includes EVERY state and all of Canada. Last I heard they weren't quite that prolific (yet). Either that or I was a bit confused and that was the soon to be projected covereage area for hogs.

No matter how you look at it, I thought the show was complete BS and not what I expected to see from National Geographic !!!

Saw that and man when those hogs hit the Canadian border they just exploded.
Took them some 100 years or so to populate most of the United States but Canada was just a weekend or an overnight takeover.
That Rancher that shot that little 80lb. boar from 150+yds. He probably would have been tore up bad cuz we all know them hogs will kill ya every chance they get.
Overblown sensationalized show for sure.

Here's what I think happened.
the "hybrid russian, hampshire cross" was grained up with that super fish feed that guy invented with the full intention of "beefing" him up to draw in paying hunters. Not a bad plan problem was he just wanted to lay around the feeder and get fat. Now nobody wants to "hunt" a fat ole lazy overgrown hog that never moves more than a few feet away from feed and water so kill him and make up a story. Give him a catchy name "HOGZILLA" who knows!
there might be others like him. Maybe a genetic mutant strain of wild giant cross bred boars will move into your neighborhood break into your pens and breed with your domestic hog. That's how it starts you know.

Maybe! Just maybe. Hogzilla came from the Major leagues where they're all " NOT DOING " roids? Could be a grain/ russian/ roid tri mix.
