well, my dad is laughing at me tell me that i am waisting my time pretty much because i am already looking for sheds. he just saw a buck today that was still packing both horns. i was a litle surprised to hear this, but i know that some of them have lost them, and that one that still hasnt dropped them aint gonna slow me down. but he told me where he saw him at and i plan on visiting that area in a few weeks. man that would piss him off if i foud one of his horns.

Yeah it's a bit late but definitly not out of the ordinary. If it seems the majority of the bucks have dropped, I'd still go at it, but if it looks like a lot still have them, I'd probably back off a bit and wait a while. Especailly if you know they're wintering in a specific area.

Bucks being spooked repeated times while they still have their head gear won't help your chances later on in the season. It's a tough call to makle though knowing there are some antlers just lying around out there!

Good luck this season!

thanks pred, i think i will keep looking. i have heard of a few bucks in that area still holding on, but where i have been looking is on the other side of town about 30 miles away. i have seen over 30 deer recently, and none of them had antlers. i think i am safe to look, i couldnt wait if i tried.

I KNOW THAT PENNED ELK AND DEER SUCK BUT WE HAVE AN ELK RANCH LOCAL HERE AND I LIKE TO GO OVER AND WATCH THE ELK EVERY ONCE IN AWHILE. THIS PIC IS FROM LAST NIGHT. SURPRISINGLY MOST OF THE BULLS ARE STILL HOLDING. NOTICE THE SHED ON THE GROUND. THEY WERE USING IT FOR A SCRATCHING POST.
