Homeowner kills mountain lion
A 90-pound mountain lion was killed by a Silverado Canyon man Monday night after he found it attacking two of his goats, officials said. An Orange County Animal Control officer was shining a spotlight on the young animal when the homeowner killed it with one gunshot. The female lion attacked the two goats about 7:30 p.m. in a pen behind a house in the 29200 block of Silverado Canyon Road. Livestock should be kept in roofed pens so mountain lions cannot get inside, Health Department spokesman Howard Sutter said. The homeowner was within his rights to protect his livestock by killing the lion, said Lt. Angel Raton of the California Department of Fish and Game.
