Has anyone tried the new Hornady GMX (Gilding Metal) bullet yet? any in-field performance reports yet? WOndering if they perform better than the copper bullets, or E-Tips.

I haven't been able to get any yet, although I definitely want to try them. From conversations with the Hornady engineer, the design should be a slight improvement for non-lead, as they're made to open up better. One thing I found particularly positive is that they're designed not to shear petals at higher velocities, which has been a reported issue with the Barnes bullets.

If you try to order from Cabelas, they'll still show up as backordered. Looking forward to hearing some first-hand reports if someone gets them before I do.

Talked with some guys in Bakersfield that shot the 30-06 150grn on hogs at Tejohn and they loved the performance. They said the overall performance was better than the Barnes.
