Has anybody hunted with theseguys and is it worth it for me to drive 9hrs to hunt with these guys the drive isnt really the issue but the hunt is the most important thing if it was killin something i could just go to big horn but i want a good hunt.

Thanks Rich

Rich, there's a review on here somewhere from a member who hunted there, but I can't really remember the final summary.

Did you try a search?

Richw,
My two buddies hunted the ranch last year and had a great time. One of them is a member on the forum...."duknutz". Killed two nice hogs and two rams. Another JHO member was up there the same time...I think it was "Mikey88". We are in Sacramento, so it is only an hour drive. Hear good things about Hoss Hogs.

i believe it is put and take..but from the review..sounds like you can make it as tuff
as youd like..sounds similar to the cedar canyon ranch type stuff,,if i was in it to win it.. id give it a shot..post up the murder shots when your threw!!

Put and take is the practice of planting stock for the purpose of charging others to remove the stock; bait stations and one-way gates bolster Hoss Hog's purchase of auction hogs.

My buddy and I hunted there at the end of march. We had alot of fun and we are planning on going back later this year. We saw about 30 pigs and heard alot more. They run a great operation. I never got a shot off at a pig but my buddy got a small one about 130 pounds. We were hunting together most of the time butwe decided to go to different stands on Saturday evening. My buddy went to the stand past mine up on a steep hill. I kept looking at his stand with all the brush surrounding it and all I could say is man I wouldnt want to shoot a pig and have it run into that nasty stuff. About an hour after being in our stands he walks back to mine so I figured he was thinking the same thing as me and didnt want to drag a pig out of that stuff. As he got to my stand I could see he was excited and shaking. He said he was in the stand, it was hot, and he got tired. So he stretched out on the floor and took a nap. He woke up to a grunting sound, looked out of the stand and saw two hoggs feeding about 30 yds. He grabbed his bow nocked an arrow and only one gave him a good shot so he took it. He stuck it and both of them ran into that steep thick stuff. He said the other pig was about 250 pounds but wouldnt turn broadside. When it got dark we walked out and the two owners of the ranch took him to find the pig. They were great. They worked hard to find the pig for him. The pig ran all the way down the mountain to a real small creek and all the way up the creek. Any we had alot of fun and I would give anything to be back there right now climbing up those hills.

There are no one way gates at Hoss Hog. Mike and Tony run the place by the book and it is a top notch operation.

I just got back from there a few days ago. My buddy got a HUGE 359# boar on the first day. The hunting is tough, but hey.. that's hunting, but it can be rewarding as well.
