Dont you have access to land with pigs on it? Why the guide trip?

I went to Hoss Hoggs a couple years ago..We had a good time.It wasn't quite that much money back then...but was a good time.Yes,you can kill the largest hog you see..Tony and Mike encourage it.You just have to wait them out until the last few minutes. It is a "fenced in" ranch, some don't care for that....Look back on here and you will see some write ups from hunts...Mikey88 and a couple others have been there too......

WOW when did broad side boars start that? I have not been but i have a few of there brochures and that price is not in there any where. They are about a year old so i guess they changed there prices. Thats crazy I would never pay $1000 for a hog!

ya i do have private land in petaluma and in red bluff but the one in red bluff takes me 3 1/2 hrs to get there and they promote rifle hunting. and my spot in petaluma the only reason i havent gone there is cuz i dont know any meat lockers in the area if i did shoot one that i could take it to. and the reason i was thinkin of the guided archery is cuz on both places i cant really take my dad and we have been tryin to line up a nice hog hunt wit our bows wit good success rates cuz hes gettin old and cant really walk as far as me and the other ranch in coalinga we hunt has been crappy guide said in 4 outings 0 hogs he said its the worst yr hes ever seen on his ranch

May want to double check Hoss Hogs prices, I thought Hoss Hog was like $750 and if it was over 220# it was an additional $300, atleast thats what their website says. My buddy was thinking of going there but for $1050 I don't think so.

Hoss Hog Hunting Adventures - Fees

Any way, I don't have any input on either, sorry. You should jump in at Choppers, $400 buck 2 days sounds pretty good.

PM me and I'll give you the name of a local butcher near petaluma who will take care of your hog.

If you go to Petaluma you could always throw one of those big white 120 quart coolers from walmart in the back of your truck with a few bags of ice. Shoot a couple hogs, quarter them, then throw them on ice. Meat gets cold right now. You could drive home, butcher and vacuum seal. Never have to pay butcher fees again. Get a grinder and seasoning and you have sausage too. All this can be used for all game. Never had any of my meat(hogs, deer, bear) ever be gamey. Never. Id save the $1000 it costs for you too and use it towards gas to Petaluma and butcher/meat prep equip. It's nice not having to use a butcher and it's not hard to learn. Good luck!

I highly recommend Hoss Hogs. Mike and Tony are GREAT guys. My GF killed her first pig and my buddy killed his first pig all with archery equipment. Well worth the trip. PM me if you have any further questions. I've been there twice.

I can clear the air on Broadside as I personally know the guy who owns the ranch. It's $550 for any untagged hog - it doesn't matter if it has tusks or not nor the size of the boar. The $1k price is for tagged pure Eurasians -- and I can tell you that the Eurasians he has can go to 500lbs -- so if you've shot plenty of ferals or crossbreds and you want a trophy Eurasian and willing to pay the price, then it's worth it.

Btw, the ferals they have there are more like crossbreds - they look more like eurasians - features, hair, long snouts, etc. I took a meat hog 160lber there a few weeks back.

It is high-fenced, as they started as a stick and string business with hogs and exotics...When I posted my hunt experience, I had a lot of people inquire about Broadside...if you have more questions, let me know.

Bud's Custom Meats in Penngrove, Ca (707) 795-8402 can take of any buthchering you need. Probably only 15-20 mins on the back roads from Petaluma. My buddy works there so I've been a customer for a while, they've always treated me great. They also have some of the best marinated tr-tip you've ever tasted. During deer season they get a bit backed up, but right now turn around is pretty quick.
