Hey all just wanted to know if anyone has the heart to share some good hunting areas (in and around the Eugene/Springfield area).
I can start off by saying i came across a nice herd of elk out in the Blue River resivior area last year...I came across a small herd of about 11-12 elk...about 2 bulls and the rest cows. A cow elk led me to them by coming down the hillside thru the trees and jumping in front of my truck and "rabbit-hopping " down the road aways and turning off...I got out of my truck,grabbed my rifle and stalked up the road around the bend...there was the herd..grazing just off the road in a small meadow...the cow's abrupt run into the herd must have spooked them cause when i drew up to sight in all i saw were asses away...I reckon i could have gotten in a shot on one of the bulls the largest being a 7x7 but i was afraid of criippling and no clean kill...
