I've seen some of the photography sites that have a weekly type photo essay. I thought it would be kinda cool to get us all to look for something in common and share pics.
I'm in. Basically it's an assigment like take pics in black & white of trees or color pics of landscapes etc. Then we can critique our work to help get better pics.
Wow! When I saw the topic for this week might be instects I went out back looking for some bugs. I'm sure glad I did too. I discovered a hive of bees in a hollow tree near my house. Since we have the African Killer Bees in this area I called the Police and they are sending a man out. More to follow I'm sure...
Insects eh? I looked all day and only saw one thing that came close, my division boss. He kinda looks like a preying mantiss when he's in a bad mood and he was hopping today.
I visit a photography msg. board that does something similar on a larger scale. They actually call it a "challenge" and you will have about 2 wks to get a certain type of photo (B&W landscape, a portrait, etc) and then everyone votes on their favorite and you can't vote for your own. Anyway, I know that this forum isn't big enough for that and voting is probably unnecessary.
I think the easiest way to do it would be to have one thread with all the photos in it. Each person could post their own photo in the thread to make it easy.
One thing I've seen in other places that do this, is to not allow chit-chat, comments, or critiques in the photo thread. That way the actual photo thread stays "clutter free" and it's easier to view the photos etc. Make sense? Just a thought on what I've seen before.
Let's not make this to complicated. Just keep it simple and we can all learn something. Post a photo on the subject and let everyone discuss it. Good points, bad points, and what each of us would do to improve the photo.
