Put my new M Forgery through its paces today. Other than select fire it's pretty close to a Milspec M4.

I got the Matech (same used on miltary M4s)rear peep and did the battle sight zero. Zero at 25m and is zeroed again at 300m. Anywhere in the middle it is at most 2-3 inches high, supposedly. I did not get to bench rest it at 300m.

Question for you guys, if the SHTF and it was time to get out of Dodge, would the rifle be dead nuts at 300m?
Or at least minute of bad guy at 300m? I understand the procedure above is used in the military but windage is supposed to be confirmed at greater distance. Thanks in advance.

ANY sighting procedure other than at the actual intended sight yardage is a guesstimate. YMMV depending on ammo manufacturer, bullet weight, powder charge, etc.

The "sight it in at 50 yds" thing is to get you on paper at the longer distances. It is NOT a substitute for proper sighting in.

The trajectory of the 5.56 is so flat that it allows for what I explained. However, I understand what you are stating.
Was wondering if anybody had experience with this?

The further out you sight in your ar-15 the closer your groups are at different yardage. There was a video on you tube that explained it better. At 400yards you had about a 12" height increase at 100 yards. Someone had posted a thread on it before but i couldnt find it earlier when i looked.
