So, how have your hunting habits changed since the price of gasoline went insane? I know it seriously affected my hunting time with a tank of gas costing right at $100 for me.

Just went by the "cheap" station near my house. 4.699 for diesel. 30 gallons will set me back $140!!!
So...... yes the gas price will impact my hunting choices. Also, I'm afraid what the price will be during duck season.
bottom line is that i'll try to hunt more local spots, and less chance for scouting trips.

Could be worse, you could have a 44G tank like I do. Costs over $200 to fill her up!

Driving the Corolla wagon instead of my truck. And riding the horses locally,no trips out side the area. About 9 miles per gallon towing, painfull.Trips to the family rice will be 2 day duck hunting affairs and will have to hunt deer locally (friends Marin County ranch).

Gas prices have seriously put a damper on my pig hunting. I am missing out on some of the best hunting of the year at vandyland, and had to pass up several invites to hunt private land in monterey.

i dunno..yet. my recent promotion has evaporated all my free time. i got full tanks of fuel, just zero time. things clearing up, so we will see. i know escalating fuel prices destroyed my plans to buy a new diesel rig. i kept my beater truck, and bought a small sports car as a daily. i will fix the few nagging mechanical issues with my truck and make it a more dedicated hunt rig. i also plan to put my wifes subie forester to use on some more non-rugged hunts.

One or two deer hunts of longer duration for me and hopefully fill a tag on my first hunt . My Chevy diesel gets 21 MPG as long as I'm not towing and don't go over 65 MPH , DAMN diesel is getting expensive !

I for one am really looking forward to this years deer season with higher gass prices.
I figure there will be fewer yahoos out after opening day and I might be able to get in some quality hunting.
On the down side there will be no out of state hunting for me this year
But each hunt where I have to drive over 100 miles will be an overnighter.

I'm afraid the frequent weekend trips to FHL will end this year, just expensive. Will probably do one paid hunt and then hunt a crumby little lompoc property a lot this season because it's so close. Creeping up to 4.50, soon to be $5 a gallon here in Santa Barbara!

dude that sucks. Are they planting any grain on your spot this year? I didnt see any. But I could stop by and pick you up on the way to mine of they did. should be coming to a head pretty soon, but doesnt look like much growing from what I can see.

It's definitely gonna put the hurt on my deer hunting trips this year, although if this year goes like last, I won't need but two trips anyway.

Seriously, at over $4.50/gallon for diesel right now and likely to go up over the summer, I'm looking at dropping a new engine and tranny in Petunia and driving her to hunt. Might have to go back to tent camping since I don't think they make a cabover for the Samurai.

Either that or get a scabbard and trailer for the motorcycle.

you know speck, I feel you on the diesel. the shell station here in town is at over 4.70 cents. its a little cheaper at a couple other places but not much., I am gonna sell the diesel as I dont drive it too often.

Samurais are the bomb. I like them alot. I have been looking for one to turn into a wheeler.

Flatbroke, Petunia is sweet on the jeep trails, but it's not a lot of fun to drive on the freeway. Lucky to get 60mph most of the time, and no respect from other traffic.

Can't sell the diesel as it pulls the horses too well...although at the cost of fuel, I won't be hauling the hayburners around so much any more either. Maybe I need to train them to harness, and let them tow the Dodge instead!

I'm going to battle the gas prices and the triple digit weather the weekend and see if I can't get my Dad a hog.

There is no doubt! I think the gas prices impact us all. This time of year I would normally be hunting twice a week. I have had to cut back to once, and sometimes every other week. Heck I would have to stop hunting if I wasn't catching rides with Flatbroke.

I’m sitting here during Memorial Day Weekend with my Four Wheel popup camper off the truck.
My Jet Boat hasn’t been out of the garage yet. Thinking about a Honda Civic and a backpacking tent.
Maybe, a Kayak with stabilizers would be best?
