I'm going to Idaho for an Elk hunt. What do I tip the guide 1- if i DO shoot an elk and 2- if I DON'T shoot an elk?

It's an 8 day hunt, horse in, one on one guide, tent camp. Is there anyone else to tip? what about the cook, the guys who pack out the animal if i get one, any ideas?

Tipping varies by the situation. Here is a few guides to tipping guides.
Wilderness Connection - Guide to Tipping
How much to tip your hunting guide
tipping guides - Cabela's Talk Forums and of course; Tipping a Guide - How to Lose Your Tip in Three Easy Steps - Jesse's Hunting & Outdoors (JHO)

If you get a great guide who gets you a fine animal, then tip him/her well. If your guide finds you quality animals and you blow the shot, he still deserves a good tip, he did his job and you didn't. If the guide is an a-hole and didn't find squat I'd not be giving too much. Just be sure to tell the guide why you are tipping the way you are. Good luck on your hunt. Wranglers and cooks should get a separate tip commensurate with their service, too.

+1 on the tip advice. Tipping well could be 15-20% of the hunt. Also what I've heard about bad tipping is not to tip in advance - with mention of words like "put me on a 350+ class bull and there's more of this $ if you do".... Also, check with the guide service to see how tips are handled. With my guide owner I give him the cash and he doles it out.
