I have been thinking about different ways to hunt besides on public land. The only way we think we could do without buying land or joining a club is to lease land from a rancher or land owner. We don't know much about it but would love any information anyone can give us. we have heard it is cheaper up north than it is in central or southern california. We have heard that you pretty much have to knock on doors which we might have to resort to but if there are any websites or resources that you are willing to share we would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, and if you have any info you are more than welcome to pm me your response.

It has gotten very hard to get permission to hunt on private property these days, mainly because of liability issues and financial reasons.
Short of going door to door, you might try posting on CL in the farm/ranch section or other social media, print up some fliers or cards to put up at local sporting goods stores, local small restaurants or feed stores. I have had luck speaking to local ranchers at the little restaraunt where they eat breakfast and either they are willing to listen to me or the blow me off before I get two words out...
The bottom line is most large properties that have good habitat or numbers of game animals are already leased by hunting guides or outfitters. They can and do pay alot more than most individuals can or be willing to pay. These days it is all about making these ranches pay for themselves.

Or you can buy a nice parcel of property. Look at this great piece of land near Parkfield. It is only 1,195,000 but I bet we can get it for a cool 900,000 or even less. The Admiral told me I can't buy it.
