I got a kick out of the negative comment that said "do onto others" These anti nuts are way out there.

I remember a few years back some ducks in the Venice area of LA had some type of disease and had to be killed so it would not spread to migrating ducks. A peta nutcase was on TV with a sign that read "don't kill the ducks, they are people too." No, they are animals you morons.

I've seen some huge pigs in Georgia that looked like they were some kids 4H project, but were on National Forest or State WMA land, they are from mostly feral stock, and I don't think any were over four hundred pounds, but a few looked like black volkswagons with a vaccuum on the face.

My three year old asked me the other day why we don't eat people since they are made of meat, I was unsure of what to say so I said that we don't eat people cause we got so many animals, but when we run out of animals we will have to do something, then he told me that he likes meat ore than he likes people so people are ok to eat, makes sense to me. We just got to get the anti's to wear special uniforms so we can pick them out first.

Congratulations to the young man!
I guess the tree huggers are everywhere! The liberals are all over what they think is bad but don't try to disagree with them.
Maybe they should start a hog hugger chapter. That would be great fun to see one of those liberal pieces of s_ _ _ _ try to hug a big sow with piglets.
Good Fun would be had!!!!!

Nope not Hannibal, but he has bitten his little brother.

Kids logic amazes me, when some adult acts like an ass we call it acting like a child, or that they have the mind of a child, however most kids have way more sense than most adults I know.

I haven't shot the 500 S&W but have been in a booth next to a .50AE whle trying to dial in my new, at the time, night sights on my HK Tactical, was like trying to eat while fat folks make out, just not possible, way too much concussion to focus, so I imagine that teh 500 is worse.

I shot a Desert Eagle in .50AE once. Let me say that I can shoot a .45 acp with hot loads all day and it feels like a .22, a .44 mag has noticable recoil but it's no big deal. Well, this fellow offered to let me shoot his .50AE and I took him up on it. I took a firm Weaver Stance and touched on off. The darn thing almost smacked me in the face. So I thought that I just wasn't ready for the recoil and shot again, this time really bearing down . . . same thing happened. I said "Uh thanks, nice gun," and handed it back. He said he didn't shoot it much but liked to let others shoot it just to see the reaction. It's funny because you can hardly load a .44 mag hot enough to cycle a Desert Eagle's action but that .50AE was somethin else !

The story has now made it to the front page of cnn.com, but you heard it here first.

It must have had 50 pounds of flees at that size! But on a more serious note, about some of the online comments on the news web page:

What did not help our cause here as hunters is the fact that they supposedly shot it 8 times with the pistol and chased it for 3 hours even though they had high powered rifles to back the kid up. I see a nice Texas Heart Shot in the picture .... It's not that they were on a "pistol only" hunt. I am sure that all of you agree, that one could have done cleaner and quicker job. And if that was not possible, why brag about the mess? I actually think they may have "overstated" some of the facts to make the animal look more beastly - not that that ever happens in hunting stories, right?

We have to tread lightly, as most people are neutral towards hunters. We don't want to give the antis any material that gives us a bad name and sway these neutral people to their side. This could have been a cool story of hunters ridding the woods of a non native species with a quick kill - see what we got instead ...

The anti's don't need to invent stories to show joe average how cruel hunters are as long as they have people who are proud of taking 3 hours to ventilate a pig before they kill it.

I don't believe for one minute this was a wild pig. It has no nuts, and you can bet it was caught young, fed until it was big enough to claim some sort of record and then turned out in a paddock so that the kid and his dad can get their 15 minutes of fame out of it.

I second that. It seems after the first hogzilla all these other hogzillas are just poping up all over Georgia. They proved the last one was not raised in the wild and they will prove this was'nt either. But, I must admit that is one huge hog.

Well, there you have it. It's all over the news that this was a farm raised hog. They even called it a "pet". We need to move this thread to the "shooting barn animals" section of the board. What a bunch of morons ...

My daughter was hitting cans with the X frame S&W .500 it when she was 14 and my small framed wife has no problems shooting it. Just use a rest. This one has the 11 inch barrel and I'm sure that helps.
