Hunt report with Boaring Expeditions

Hunted the weekend of 4/27-28/02 with BoarExpGuide and had a good hunt. Saw pigs every day. My cousin and I shot eating pigs on Sat morning. I spent the rest of the weekend looking for a trophy. Saw a good sized blonde boar Sun evening just before dark. While trying to get a closer look the wind shifted and he was gone. Gonna try and include a picture. Hope it works.

Welcome aboard, Trikstr, and congrats on a good hunt.  Sounds like Boaring Experiences is a quality organization.  Can you describe the hunt conditions a little more?  For example, how much time on foot vs. in vehicles?  What kinds of shots did you have (long range, close up, etc.)?  Did you just go along with their plan, or did you make the calls based on your preferences?  

I know boarexpguide is a member on the list and has done a great job promoting his group without spamming, but hunter experiences are what the rest of us are relying on when we start thinking about making our own trips.

We spent time glassing from close to the vehicle to a couple of hikes and one early morning drive(that I suggested) to see some different country.Terrain varied from relatively flat(waiting for the pigs to come to or from their bedding areas) to some high steep hills. Saw lots of wildlife. At least 50 different pigs,quail(LOTS), 2 bobcats, a few blacktail deer, and one roadrunner which really surprised me. Being as this was my first hunt  of this type. I tried to take advantage of our guides experience wguch he seemed to have. He has been doing this for 7 years. He knew the area and where to go to put us on pigs. He also listened when I wanted to try something else. I passed on one shot at big boar Friday evening because it was a 200 yd shot that I didn't feel comfortable trying to make offhand while excited. The shots where we killed our pigs were quite close(40-60yds). All in all boarexpguide did an excellent  job for us and I'm happy with the way things worked out enough that I'm planning on going back in June to try for a big one.

Trikstr,

Once again thanks being awesome clients.  You both were enjoyable and safe to hunt with.  Your knowledge too of hunting and what you are capable of was refreshing.  You guys didn't just start shooting at the first pigs we saw, but instead waited to be sure it was a pig you wanted and then made a good clean kill.  You both shot a total of three shots that weekend and all three shots were well placed and did the job, and no wounded pigs were left to die in the hills.  It was also refreshing that you had some ideas of your own and was willing to try another ranch and see some new terrain, eventhough the ranch we were hunting was loaded with pigs.  

The bottom picture was Trikstr's friend that took his pig with a Sharps single shot 45-70 with iron sights at 60 yards.  Pretty cool if you ask me.

Well Trikstr if you head up in June I'd love to guide you again.  Until then keep those "yotes" under control in the West Desert.

That water tank car in the background looks like Ruth's place.  When I was up there a few months ago, there were tons of hogs moving.  Boaring Experiences has some great ground to hunt.  Kyler and BoarExpGuide know their stuff.
