Now that the registration has to be mailed in, is it any different than it used to be? I mean as far as numbers of hunters and especially the occasional undesirables.

I think its the same if not worse these days...Lately, there haven't been many TA's open to the public. Rumor has it that the enire base will be closed to the public for the month of June for training. It just takes a lil more hard work for success but its not impossible. (By the way, I'm assuming you're talking about Fort Hunter Liggett, right?)

Take care

Fort hunter Liggett isn't bad at all. We love it just fine. There's pigs, turkeys, scads of deer, quail, pigs (oh yeah I already said that). Some weekends you might not want to be there (opening of any season) but for the most part it is a great public hunt. Vast and beautiful.

I second what BHR said. If your going to hunt public land, it doesnt get any better then FHL,IMHO. Camp sites, a covered place to skin, a walk in cooler and, i dont know this for sure, i bet the best secsuss rate of any public land around, again im not sure of my last statment but it is the best ive seen.

I've been there many times just not recently. I gave up on it because of some bad experiences. I was hoping that the change in regs mellowed it out some. I agree that it is a good place for public hunting just not good enough for me to put up with all the $&*! Some I can handle but a few years ago it was getting ridiculous. I think archery deer season is about all I can handle.

How many times I have to tell you people!

There is no use in hunting Fort Hunter Ligget or the surrounding Los Padres.. There aint nothing there!
So stop looking!
Nuthin, not turkeys quail deer or pigs and no big trout either!
Maybe a badger or coyote or a bobcat but thats about it. Theres no point in wasting your valuable hunting time chasing around FHL.
Oh and in case your wondering theres nuthin around the Indians either.
Let me know when you guys all quit going down there cuz ...............I'm doin a survey? and I need to know for the ....................data............I need the data.......on .what days nobody is there hunting............it's part of a scientific research i'm workin on with some other scientific people who none of you know but its important that you tell me when your never going to go there and important that you stop going there.
It's for the greater good people If you want I could poost some pictures of what it was like way back in the 60's and there was game there but that would just depress you so I wont go there.
thanks any questions please direct them to Cecil Peirce
