We then continued to another bedding area on top of another hill. I almost missed this one and I do not know how. Because the tines were so badly chewed I guess I thought they looked like blades of grass from a distance. Once I got closer and I saw the base I realized it was a shed. Number two for the day! I hate squirrels or whatever did this to a fine shed!

Went out again on Sat to hit a woods where I found the other 5pt side. Went down a trail through nasty briars and was rewarded with this little guy:

Anybody else seen such a big base to sheds? My dad found a small 4pt side this year and it too had a big chunk of bone attached to the bottom.

Well, I was out again this weekend preparing for turkey season putting up blinds etc. so I decided I would go looking for sheds maybe for the last time this year. I looked through the neighbors woods and found dead yearling but no antlers. Later in the afternoon I headed out to put up my cameras. When I was done I was headed back to the house when two canadian geese got their dander up because I was walking toward them in the corn field. I decided that I probably better not disturb them so I decided to head further out into the corn field and cross the high spot in the field. I thought to myself, what if there was a shed up on this hill. I had just got to the top and looked about 15 rows over and it stuck out like a sore thumb. A nice 4pt side! YES!

I looked around for the other side briefly but it was starting to rain pretty good so I left it for another day. As it lay:

Went back to the spot with my Dad and kids yesterday but did not find the match or any more. Hopefully my dad will find it when he plants his crops. He has found at least two sheds per year from the tractor while he plants corn and beans. Another view:
