Well,

My Dad and I got the FIRST one out of the way this weekend. Dad found a really nice 6pt shed that I believe is from the same buck that I found a shed from last year. Did not see him one time this season though and I thought he might have taken the dirt nap. I found a couple of smaller ones yesterday.

Dad Found the MATCH!

Well I can hardly believe it but yes my Dad found the match to the other side. I am not knocking his ability but it is how he found it! He was on the way to my house to watch the grandchildren so that my wife and I could attend the big HS basketball game. As he left his house and drove down the rode he paused at a place where deer always cross the road. About 20yards from the road there it layed, tines up for all to see. He swears that it was not there in the morning because he always checks. It had about 5" of the main be busted off but a nice shed regardless.

Heading out tonight and hopefully I can be that lucky. I will settle for any shed as they are all very hard to find and to be cherished.

Good night on 3/3

Well headed out Tuesday night to a standing soybean field. After walking right to the area where I had been seeing the deer, I found nothing. I began walking the edge of the woods along the corn and found the first of the evening. After a lot of walking I decided to head back to the bean field and look at the top of another hill. I walked up and glanced to an area that was beaten down with a MATCHED PAIR laying side by side!!!! My first side by side MP ever. My dad and I just were having conversations about why it is so hard finding them side by side. I said holy crap and began the shed dance. After picking them up and moving on I noticed deer in the field. A quick look through the binos I immeadiately found a large 10pt looking at me. Yep, he STILL had both sides on his head!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would love to get back out there tonight to try to find those puppies.

Broken One

Went out this weekend to my buddies. He does not get into shedding that much but he agreed to go to get out of the house. We had not been afield long when I look to the top of the hill and see the first of the day! 4 pt side that had been broken off at the base. We walked for another couple of hours and nothing. Did see a half rack. He then called yesterday to tell me why we had not found any as he was looking at a big 10pt and small 6pt. that were still packing both sides! Seems like they are holding a long time this year.

Second Matched Set of the YEAR!

Well, I am positive that Dad walked right past these two on an earlier outing a couple of weeks earlier but luckily I did not. Laying side by side in the corn stubble. Pretty bleached on the back sides as they were laying tines down. He must have really messed up his right side but oh well, matched set #2!!!

Sorry no ATL pics, forgot the camera.

More sheds

Well, I made it back out on 4/3 and 4/10. I found a chewed 4pt side on 4/3 and two more chewed on 4/10. Second one on this past Friday was a shame because it would have been a real nice shed. I was just happy to find these considering the shed hunting pressure at this place. I should have been out there at the end of March and maybe I could have saved them from the squirrels.

How long does it take squirrels to completely dispose of a shed?

10 sheds (2 matched sets!)
1 broken
