The economy seems to be every one’s problem around the world now a day. <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com

South Africa are offering good and affordable hunting packages. Plains and Dangerous game hunts have come down; packages for 5, 7 and even 10 days plains game lead the best offers with hunts starting UNDER the US2500.

If you ever considered hunting in <ST1:pSouth Africa</ST1:place, now would be an excellent time finding your hunt that suits your budget and GO…

UNDER the US2500
Is that including trophy fees? I've been looking into it and with air, dipping/prepping, and trophy fees, it will still cost over 10K not including taxidermy. Most trophy fees I've checked out are around $500/animal so the $2500 would be about doubled.

You can find pretty much anything you want in South Africa right now. You can go on a bargain basement trip, or you can go first class and still spend quite a bit of money, but see it go much further now than it would have a couple years ago.

If you want to keep the total cost down, you'll be hunting stuff like impala, blesbuck, warthogs, springbok and even gemsbok in some places, but if you want to hunt Kudu, Nyala, Eland, Waterbuck, Zebra and some of the other more significant plains game, the cost of your hunt will go up a fair bit. Daily rates are very reasonable, from a couple hundred per day to around $400 for some of the top PHs. Trophy fees will be the single largest expense you have over there, and you can control that yourself.

I will say this, if you've ever wanted to hunt Africa, GO DO IT NOW!!!

It isn't going to be this cheap forever, and it is a better desitination than you can imagine if you've never been there. There is no place I'd rather hunt.

Hey DLS

I have read your Africa posts and they gotten me thinking more and more about putting together a trip for my son and I for his graduation present in 2011. Would like to just get a flavor for the whole thing, plains game, warthog, etc. None of the dangerous game or high dollar animals. Would also like to know about bird hunting while we are there, is this an option?

What suggestions would you give me to get started

Thanks Steve

MoReno,

I sent you a PM. Please feel free to email me or call me at the numbers I posted in my PM.

I cannot think of anything better than taking a kid to Africa like you're considering. My son and I are talking about going back again in 2012, mainly for buffalo next time. My son also has quite a few plains game, and maybe a leopard, he wants to hunt, but I'd be happy if I did nothing other than hunt nyati.

You will never regret taking your son on safari, and it'll be a warm memory for as long as you live.

Cape Buffalo in South Africa

If there is anyone wanting to go to Africa this summer, last week in May for Cape Buffalo, I have a Special Package I put together for our group and negotiated the price for a very good deal. I have 2 Packages left of the 5 that are allowed to be taken in this area this summer, this is a great deal. Please get in touch as I have about run out of time putting this together and the bulls will go to another PH for considerably more. E:mail me at bfarleys@gmail.com ASAP. Thanks.

What details can you share, such as location, duration of hunting time, general size of bulls taken, size of concession, etc.? Is this in the greater Kruger Park area? If not, where?

Agree. Great year to go. I had a 5 critter package (Impala, Blesbok, KUDU, Blue or Black Wildebeest and Springbok) for $2750, all inclusive (food, lodging, guide, skinner, etc). with Kei River Safaris. I understand that price went UP the past few months now to $3400, but still a steal.

Keep in mind that AFTER the hunt is when everyone gets a piece of you. The SA taxidermist gets his $ (870 in my case) for boiling the skulls, dipping the hides and packaging. Then add about another $1,000 to ship ($350 air fair and the rest is associated fees for data collection? permits, fumigation.....the bill looks like you're going thru escrow, lol). THEN when it gets here, the custom broker gets a couple C notes, then if you have pig or primates in the crate it must go to a taxidermist to open it up, there's another trucking cost plus the taxidermist cost of about $200. THEN you start talking about tanning the hides and mounting the critters.....but still, it's awesome and worth it....
