I will be dropping my brother off at LAX on the 19th of this month and was wondering if anyone can recommend a public area down there that's open for :pig-laughing: hunting. :prayin : I don't want anyone's honey hole, just a general area would be appreciate.

Los Padres northern part near FHL......But I would go for Deedy's place 200 for semi-guide hunt is unheard of give her a call and I'm sure you will score, she can also help you out if you decide on public land. Public land is most likely to be a hike with your rifle and spend about the same amount of money for not even seeing a pig.

Good luck!!

I appreciate both MJB and Hatchet's inputs. Unfortunately, being a previous teacher and out of work for almost 2 years now...I just can't afford any guided hunts or semi hunts where I have to pay out of my pocket. That's why I like sticking to public lands. So, it's not the hike that'll kill me.....it's the fee to basically shoot an animal that will. Thanks again guys!

there are hogs in tehachapi but that is 99 percent private and it is hard to find access to the land that is public without trespassing.

Camp Roberts opens for a Memorial weekend hunt 23-25. It is public land with 15.00 weekend pass or 55.00 yearly pass.

I have no intentions of going there, it's too far of a drive. If it's private land, I want no part of it.

Not a bad idea to consider but unfortunately, I'll be out camping during that week.

I talked to a bunch of game wardens when I was guarding FEMA in SLO. There favorite public land spots was Camp Roberts and second was Ft. Hunter Ligget. DFG has a booklet on pig hunting that has public land spots and one guy on some previous threads was getting pigs on BLM land you will have to do a little research on this thread. If some one in your family marries a rancher in East Texas then you might want to consider a very nice wedding gift.
