Hunting with a Black Gun

Who does it?

I took my first game animal yesterday with my AP4. I had a doe tag to burn and she was an old one with no yearing so I took her down.

I really dig how easy it is to maneuverable this gun with the short barrel and collapasble stock.

I hunt with an AR15 in a 6.8spcII caliber. Shoots great and will kill deer up to 300yards but no luck with it yet.

You can harvest an animal amd go into battle with todays rifles. I don't hunt with anything else.

Don't know that it is a "black gun", but I've taken many deer with a military assult rifle, or at least it was back in the Spanish-American war. Dad's deer rifle was a very used 30-40 Krag; great deer rifle; even Jack O'Conner used one or years until he made enough money to buy a modern rifle.

There is many alternate calibers not just 223/556 and 308 calibers

I was using Hornady's Zmax in 168gns. My understanding is that the Zombie ammo is just Hornady TAP repackaged

It did a number on her. It put a lemon sized hole all of the way through her. She had no heart left to speak of. On impact she leaped her body height, thrust forward with her back legs 2 kicks and promptly crashed into the ground and went into her death throws. Shot was 65 yards. The bullet went right where I wanted it to. I was impressed. It probably isn't the best choice bullet for meet retention. I have some 180 Federal Noslers that group well Id like to try on game.

I shoot coyotes with my AR .223 that I built and am building a .264 or 6.5 grendel upper for it. They are amazingly accurate if you have the right barrels...
