My buddy and I are hunting with George on Monday. We're going to be on our own, spot and stalk. I've read the now fifteen page thread on Wild Pig Hunting inc. Does anyone have any tips or advice for us? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pray to the pig god and hope to get real lucky!!!! j/k
Hunt the thickest, deepest canyons cause the pigs will be bedded down during most of the day and listen for pig noise.... Pigs are the noisy creature but they can be very elusive.

The first road you can get to from the camp, take it! It's a fun hike going up, but it'll be worth it when you get to the otherside :).

tip. dont go too high up on the mountains. every mountian we hiked, the signs were limited to midway up. we found them on the mountian opposite of white mountain. in the groves of evergreen trees.

Check that white circle, and just to the left of the arrow. Lots of great spots. From what I remember, Ken said that spot in the white circle hasn't been hunted in awhile. Go check it out and let me know what you find there :).

Rsolo, as you can see in the photo above be prepared to do some hiking and climbing and cayon crossing like a couple of billy goat's, it can be a physicl hunt for sure, good luck on your cooley ranch wild pig hunting adventure, as far as good spots there's 22'000 acres of good spots so much ground to cover for sure, great country to hunt!.............tra

p.s. great photo 559hog, thanks for the painfull reminder of our hunt last weekend on that saturday, that was hard core full day for sure! how's your blisster's?.....tra

Just listen to George, he'll put you where he thinks the pigs will be. I hunted some of the steepest, thickest stuff the ranch has, lots of sign but no hogs. I do think they will be bedded up in the thicker stuff.

Good luck, post up your experience.

great photo 559!

i am almost too embarrassed to mention my finger infection. following muddy down a mountainous abyss, i had to strap my bow into my badlands to free up my hands to basically keep myself alive. (ok, i exaggerate) i didnt have heavy work gloves, (i will next time, in OCT) and i got a nasty splinter in my finger.. chinese bamboo torture style! right next to my pinkie nail. i had just met muddy, but initial impression didnt make be believe he would have sympathized with my "booboo", so i just yanked it out with my teeth. then 2.5 days of camping. i got home showered and went to sleep. i woke up to my finger throbbing. i went to the doc, and she immediately bent me over for an antibiotic shot. i got sent home with meds. the infection already was in my hand. i am better now. but i feel stupid for not cleaning up the puncture.

WHAT A GREAT HUNT! pigs 1, me=0...

When I got home, I popped all my blisters and smothered them with antibacterial ointment then wrapped them up with some bandage. They're almost all gone now. I'm definitely going to get me some better boots and socks for hunting. Speaking of which, what boots did you recommend?

So our trip Monday yielded one Hog in the truck but seen three nice groups. I shot this one an hour into the hunt after a 30 minute or so stalk.

No it is the j104 just one. It was the bags virgin trip and i was carrying about 20lbs in fluids snacks and all my layers and knives. No cramping or anything I LOVE MY EBERLESTOCK! It also doubled as my shooting rest.

First of all great job!!!!!!

Secondly DAMMIT.
Sancho and I hunted the shit out of that canyon. We must have been too noisy or smelly or something.
there was plenty of fresh sign when we were there just couldn't find them.

Were you sitting and glassing? Still hunting on the game trails or walking the roads? I gotta figure out what is wrong with my hunting!!
One more thing what time did he let you loose in the field?

Again great job!!
