Since this is a general question, and not specific to species hunted, I posted it here.

Myself and some friends are looking into some hunting in Texas, and I came across this guy. He has hunts on Ebay, they seem like some great deals, atleast most of them.

Has anyone ever seen them, if not, here's the link. Let me know if you have, I'm thinking of bidding on some.

Thanks,

Looks like a nice ranch. Seems a little high for primarily hog hunt here in Texas. If I paid that much here, I would want a guarantee on the Auodad sheep. I guess it depends on what kind of accomadations you are looking for where these seem real nice so you are paying for that, or if you just want to primarily hunt hogs and could put up with not as nice accomodations. Thats my

If you are that interested in coming to Texas for a hunt like that, I would look at guided hunts in texas and do a search. there is a bunch of places that do hog hunts and exotics.

Here is one about 5 miles from my lease. A two day hog hunt with lodging and transporation included is $300. Exotics are more but if they are, usually guaranteed. http://www.lawcreekranch.com/Hunting_Packages.html

I would not recommend place here...it might be construed as advertising and tossed in the Sin Bin...

I think it's only advertising if you actually are connected to them in some way. I could be wrong though.

Back to the issue at hand, you don't wanna come here Mel. We ain't got no pigs here. Go to Arkansas........J/K.
<
I guess if Californians are gonna come here it might as well be JHO Californians.
<

I would agree with BigSwad that it does seem kind of steep for just hogs, but I will say that it's kinda cheap if you end up woith a nice audad. A trophy Audada hunt can go for 3K or even more. The accomidations look to be real nice by the pictures in the listing. I say go for it and give us a call when you get here.

I don't quite get it being so steep.

You break it down (the two-man hunt), and it's about $255 per person for a three day hunt that includes two hogs each, and a possible auodad for each hunter. The four-man hunt breaks down even cheaper.

From what I've heard and read, this is about right for Texas... and the ranch looks like a bloody resort!

Ditto!!

I interpeted it to mean $800 dollars for all four hunters. Thats 8 hogs 4 auodads and unlimited varmits for $200 bucks each. Obviously the chance for an Auodad is a crap shoot by the way he explains it but, it's still a chance just the same. All in all it sounds like a pretty neat deal. The only problem I see is the cost of gas to drive from California to South Texas, probably twice as much as the hunt itself.

3 years ago my work partner went on a deer hunt near the boarder of Mexico free with a contractor from our work.

Now I can not remember if he paid "Out of State" or the other person was able to get him a Resident Liscence. Anyhow- 3 years ago it was $175 - and the most amazing thing I have ever seen- all your tags for every game was included.
<
It opened up like a wallet acordian type phone number list- It opens up to the ground unfolded.
<

I can't remember if there was any draw tags included in it.
<
Mabey BZZ can enlighten us what the cost is for sure.

I'm actually watching two hunts right now, if I can get them cheap enough i'll go for it. I leave for Mexico on August 12th with the entire family, if I spend too much on a hunt my girlfriend may not like it. Although, one of the two hunts is for her.

Guess we'll just have to see how the auctions go.

One of those 6 man hunts for hogs and Aoudad might be fun for a JHO road trip.

Let me know how it turns out Mel. Hopefully it will work out well for you. I guess I did read that wrong...
<

Anyway, gwhunter69, I was not recommending them, just giving something for Mel to compare to. I have never hunted there or anything, it was just a ranch I saw driving by that had that type of hunting to compare prices with.

Also I hunt one one hour west of san antonio with okay facilities and bow only with unlimited hogs for around $60 - $75 a day. That was kind of what I was comparing it to. Hog hunts down there usually go really reasonable.

But Mel those look like good buys. Let me know how they turn out as I may interested in bidding on a later one if you actually see some auodad.

I was sort of thinking the same thing. It's just a matter of how best to present it to the Mrs. Probably go over like a fart in a sleeping bag.

With over 25,000 acres of pure South Texas brush country, I can offer some of the best hunting in the State (high & low fenced areas) for Whitetail, Wild Turkey, Wild Hog, Mourning & Whitewing Dove, Quail and several species of Exotics (Axis, Blackbuck, Red Stag & Aoudad Sheep).[/b]

How big are the fenced areas?

How much is a Non-Res liscence/tags?
Audad are considered exotics and pigs are nongame animals, so......

Nuts- I had a full page typed out- Hit enter and got Errored.
<

I cant retype this now- I gotta get the boys breakfast.

Thanks for the awesome link Big.

In short- Are Pigs considered "Game" or Non-game? 5 day non-res non-game- $45. Non-Res General hunting- $300 (includes Game tags)

also- the Aoudad Sheep- Woulden't they be considered Special game? If so that is $125 for that tag.

Thanks again !!

That would be a lot of work putting up a fence around 25,000 acres. Glad it wasn't me. Good luck to everyone.

bzzboy correct me if I'm wrong, but feral pigs are considered exotic game as they were introduced to texas, just like the others such as axis deer, auodad and other exotic type deer/antelope/other animals. Javelina are considered game animals though, but dont see many anymore here in texas.

Sierra, if you read down they give you the types of animals that are described as game, non-game and exotic in that link I sent you. It would be best to look through that completely if you are interested to make sure you get the right license.

Auodad are considered and exotic. Hogs are not. Javelina are a game animal, but you may hunt them with the 5-Day Non-Res Non-Game License for $45. We have a lot of javelina in Texas! Exotics, hogs, predators, and javelina can all be hunted with this license.

Good Hunting,

Bob
