Nic,Doc,Evan and Uncle JI what other species is there to hunt in this area.

Also I check into the Hawaii Division of forestry:for those interested in hunting here is the web site:
https://hunting.ehawaii.gov/hunting/license.html[/b]

This area (Hawaii County, Unit D, Hilo Watershed) has primarily Cattle and Pigs. Kalij Pheasant are also in there and I would suspect turkey would be there too because they are in the pastures just one mile uphill. There are no sheep in the forest but there are sheep no less than five miles away in the lava flows of other hunting areas. The sheep on that end of the mountain seem to look alot like Mouflon so I figure the mouflon blood hasn't yet been diluted as much as it is more west around pohakuloa. The other sheep is just feral farm sheep and they are great eating.

By the way, my email hasn't been able to send to yours but I'm using a small sony point & shoot camcorder. The tapes are MiniDV. The only bad part is that it's touch screen, so manual focus and exposure are too hard to use under hunting conditions.

The only thing better than living in a tropical paradise where you can hunt "Hawaiian Cape Buffalo" and "Wild Boar" to your hearts content, is living in an area where you can hunt Hawaiian Cape Buffalo, Wild Boar AND fish for Ono!!!

You guys are too lucky... now that I'm single... I think I might have to move out there for six months or a year!!!!! What Island are you on?

There's normally not a season, in fact they usually say you are not allowed to shoot cattle, probably to eliminate hunter/rancher interactions. But in this case, they figured the ranchers aren't going to get them out. The initial season ran for a year from November of 2005 to Nov. 2006. Then they just kept it going saying they are opening it for two more years. They have choke cattle in one area of Kauai and I heard rumers that they might start one there too but I don't know about that; only rumors.
