I couldn’t do it. The only thing around here without feathers are small deer without antlers. I took these over the weekend and yesterday afternoon (some for this months contest).

Golden-eye’s are one of the coolest looking ducks that I’ve ever seen, this weekend was my first time…

Oldsquaws are pretty cool too, it was my first time seeing them this weekend also…

They have to be the fasted flying ducks that I’ve ever seen…

Some Canvasbacks…

And this is no where near as good as Chenango Daves, it was really cool seeing it so close to town…

Sorry about the quality, it’s very hard to focus when it’s snowing.

Great pics!

Old Squaws have been my favorite duck since I was a little kid many years ago. Correct me if I'm wrong but those look like Redheads to me.

Thanks El_vaquero and Deerslam, it beats me... I know absolutely nothing about ducks

I only know mallards when I see them, and even with them I'm not too sure, lol. Thanks for the right ID.

Great pics. See a lot of wood ducks and mallards here. Dont think I have ever seen any ducks like those around here though.

Paul, nice shots. Looks like you've got some snow there and more on the way.
I'd agree, redheads.

Don't you just love the way the GE's sound in flight. You can here them suckers coming down the river, reminds me of my last duck hunt.

I'd love to see an Oldsquaw in person. One of the most beautiful ducks out there. I'm gonna make a trip someday for some eastern sea ducks!!

Thanks guys, wow, I didn't know people liked oldsquaws so much. I'll post some more pictures of them after I get them processed. I read that they are called "longtails" now... a p/c duck?

The harbor is just about frozen over now, there are some golden-eyes in the river and I'll have to try to get a few shots from over the snow bank... I would love to get a good shot of one in flight.

Yup Zach, I don't think it's ever going to end. I've been saving some money for a while now so I can try to find a different line of work. All of this snow has finally pushed me toward doing that. I took a leave of absence from work to try and find something other than driving a truck for a living... it sucks being gone all week and then having to shovel snow when I get back. I'm surprised the roof hasn't caved in yet.
