I spotted the Locust while I was in the back yard shooting. It was about a half hr before sunset. The sun was on him for a bunch of shots then I moved between him and the sun and used the flash. On that one the flash made for a better shot, because it usually darkens the background quite a bit, Which makes the wings and body more visible.
All of my shots are hand held, which is nice, because I usually have to lean way out to get the pictures.
