Mlindsay,

The area sure must not have a lot of options for food and/or water for the pig to come back every day after taking one in the noggin... Good luck and be sure and post a coule photos after you get him tonight.

You would think that however there is food and water all over the place he just really likes what he's found.

Went back last night. Got a good shot on him from about 20 yards. Hit about 4 inches above his left shoulder. Found blood after about on hour of searching.

We looked for another hour and a half and could never find him. My buddy went back this morning and found nothing new. I feel like sh*t today.

So it's hard to say where ya hit em, it would depend on his size. Where do ya think ya stuck that porky?<BR><BR><IMG id=vbattach_72070 class=previewthumb alt="" src="http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=72070&stc=1" attachmentid="72070">

There's really only one shot for a big boar; rear quartering. You HAVE to settle down and make the shot like it was paper. If you can't, then don't. Really. Seriously.

Ya Brad he followed the draw all the way down. Bruce from that picture I would say it would a liver shot. :( the only anatomy picture I had was this one

Be that anatomy it would have been a high lung shot.

Mlindsay third time the charm! dont trip to hard, remember it is an invassive speicies and not considered big game. out of all the game animal hit and recovery stories it seems wild pigs hunts always dont always end up how they should, even with a good hit on a pig many hunters still do not recover their hogs all the time, thats when the dogs come in and take over to find and recover. u guys have a hound u can get out there to track?.......tra

TRA no we don't have any access to hounds. I must admit I was ready to hang the bow up put my tine back toward golf. I was however talked off the ledge from a good friend.

Sounds to me like you either only maybe nicked a lungs or you have put an arrow into no mans land which is the gap in between the lungs and the spine and if thats the case the animal especially bein a pig will prolly be just fine and you might even see him again, next time just aim lil lower and you will be eatin pork chops for dinner. Also would just like to throw this out there to all you pig hunters and only doin this cus i hear alot of stories of lost pigs from bow and guns and hate to see any game wasted even if it is these invasive pigs i live in the sonoma area and hunt pigs year around with dogs do alot of deperdation help even help with fish and game pig hunts and alot of just recreational fun hunting anyone who would like help finding there trophy whether it be a lil piglet or a trophy sized boar let me know would be glad to come out and recover your animal for you, just get ahold of me on here and i can give you my info.

He has a hog that is rutting up the ground near his house (where he waters his strawberries). Being that all is water comes from the now dry creek he really hates to be watering just for this hog to tear the place up.

Bummer you didn't find the hog, but I reckon you may have solved the problem!

Yea at least with that main hog. Ths property is loaded with hogs. This one had just been the most destructive. Think I'll head out this weekend and try to get a buck. Saw a nice one one of the last times I went out there but really wanted the hog outta their hair.

Mlindsay I have friend who has been looking to get his catch dog some run if you were looking to try that. I have seen hogs hit by a 7mag not leave a blood trail because the slug was caught in the hide so I could imagine an arrow getting stuck and leaving little to no blood

Mlindsay i just remembered i was watching the Pigman series a month ago where the Pigman (B.Q.) had a somewhat bad shot on the hog at the feeder it got to live another day until he got the second opportunity when the hog came back to the feeder agian and shazam! he sealed the deal on that hog the second time around with his bow, and then pulled out the first broadhead that he hit the hog with. so mishaps when it comes to hog hunting just doesnt happen to the regular hunter it happens to the pro's too, wild pigs are not your average game animal to hunt thats for sure, they are so tuff and rezillant and dont go down easy without a fight, and still survive with bullets and broadheads in them, butt thats what i love about wild pig hunting, its been the best challange of my life to take a pig down with a bow, stay tuned my day is coming! we got to hook up for sure my friend for some bowhunting this year maybe Lake Sonoma, only 3 more months to go!.....tra
