I remember on my first elk. I shot at noon, got the first load to the horses and trailered home by 4:30 am. Up the next day with the horses and got the last load off the mountain and back to the barn by 9:00 pm. It made for a long two days, but memories for a lifetime.
The next elk was where we could get the horses to. THAT was the way to go. Baked elk heart. UUUUMMMMM.
