I"m guessing that was a 220, as a 440 would have really clamped down a lot worse, I think. It's been a while since I trapped, but those damned 440s were nasty on anything that slid through them. They'd quickly crush the biggest beaver, and I always worried about accidentally tripping them, as I feared I'd break an arm if I got caught in one.

As a buddy of mine used to say:

Should have used a longer stake and stronger wire on that trap.

Don't you hate it when them Elk walk off with your traps?

OUCH! I agree with DLS, doesn't look bigger than a 220, but definitely big enough to put on a good hurtin'.

I had a couple close calls with just the little 110's while running a small line for muskrats in high school. Can't imagine getting hammered by one that big.
