Thanks Steve, still think about our Sonoma hog hunt. Hey, dont know if you guys have been watchn the NOAA page but Idaho City should be gettn a pretty good dose of snow tonite and tomorrow. Warm temps next week.
This year is supposed to be a "La Nina" year and that generally means the pineapple express - warmer and wetter snow. What forecast diagrams that I have seen show the jet stream tends to split almost at Idaho. Soaking the panhandle and the lowest portion of the state. But if they are as accurate as the local weather forecasts, take that with a large grain of salt.
Well less than a week and im gettn all worked up! Last look at the extended forecast is lookin like good weather thru next week. Good luck Dave and I hope we see ya up there.
I'm getting antsy too. I get updates from Idaho F&G:
"Elsewhere, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Wildlife Services, October 12, confirmed that wolves killed five ewes on a Boise National Forest grazing allotment on Horse Heaven Creek, northeast of Idaho City."
Much rather see you guys than wolves. They tend to "run the Elk" from what I have heard. Meaning, like us, the Elk get antsy and move around a lot.
Had one of the guys I hunted with over for dinner last night and since he hunted a few more days than I did last year he found a couple of spots for us to look into. Still in the same area we hunted but a little further in. Sounds promising. Hoping the wolves have stayed out from where we hunt. I'm finally starting to get excited. It's been a stressfull fall.
Ok less than 24 hours till we leave for Idaho, weather looks like its going to be nice and I am chompin at the bit. Hope to have a good story when i get back!Talk to you all soon.
