I want to get an OTC tag, rifle season. I don't care if it's antlerless or bull. I just want to do some hunting. It will more then likely be a buddy and I. We both backpack a lot. I'm willing to hike, I'd prefer It be a zone that has an area I can get away from the roads. I've read alot about OTC tags, I'm not sure at all about what's good or not, my dad hunted the palisades of Idaho many years ago and liked it, I'm not sure about now? There is way to much land to decide from between these 2 states. I'm 18 years old and really just want to spend some time in the woods and maybe bring some meat home. I'm a bit confused if Idaho OTC tags are still available? Is there any way I can order hard copies of regs fro
Idaho and Colorado fish and game offices? I realy don't like this Internet stuff.

You still have plenty of time for Idaho. There draw deadline isn't until the first week of June. You should be able to buy an OTC tag in Idaho through about August, depending on the area.

Colorado has already had their draw. Not sure what OTC tags are left there.

You would probably have more success in CO unless you draw a good tag in ID. Idaho DFG has a good tool on their website called "Hunt Planner". It will give you lots of stats on the different hunts.

The only OTC tags we have in CO are bull only. Most locals think of it as a false hope to get extra revenue for the state. Still, I have heard of people getting bulls with them. Hope that helps.

I've hunted Idaho a few times and really enjoyed the state. The wolves have had an impact, making it a little more challenging than the past, but they're still there. The nice thing about Idaho is you can get an elk and deer tag OTC, so this gives you some options since you'll see both. I haven't hunting CO, but was planning to check it out simply to try something new.
