So last November or so a buddy and I were out hunting quail on a vast piece of private land that boarders LPNF. We were chasing Quail and having a great time gettem. ( They are my favorite game bird to hunt and eat.)

Anywho, my buddy and I decided to decend into this dry river bed about 100 feet below. As we did we walked along it and the dry river bed forked. At the fork on the right there was sooooo much trash. I mean lots and lots of trash. A mexican brand pair of boots were found along with "wife beater" tank top and a cooking pan that had been used by small singe burning camping stove.

We shot the heck out of the pan as a message for the idividuals not to return and eventually cleaned up all of the trash. We didnt find the exact grow location becuase we only had shotguns with birdshot and didnt feel like wondering. We believed the grow, trash, etc were from a summer 2012 grow.

Ok, so dont marijuana plants have to have water? If that is the case I want to hunt for deer and pigs there. Any suggestions or advice please?

You just hear all to often, " find the water find the game. "

Thank you

Okay, someones going to say, so I'll be the first: all you need to do to find it, and the pigs, is invite me.

On a more serious note, the water can't be far, I'm sure a little boot leather would do the trick.

lmao.. don't invite me unless you are friends with the grower or you are the him. I am sure there is water up there.... and maybe they even have a dam to hold water that they pump. But unless you want to be shot at and maybe killed up in no mans land. Its not even worth the trouble. JMHO

Ya pick up the phone, call CalTip and give em the GPS numbers. Then you GTF out. AKs beat scatterguns with birdshot everytime.

nope. I want to go hunt them also. and have plans to do so. But not till after harvest. Why try to get in the mix with a bunch of bad people.

Many of the workers speak little or broken English. Reminds me of a gun law that was made in hope ranch back home. If you do not speak and understand English you may not have a full auto gun in the ranch. There was a oil princes living there so the new rule was for her staff. lol

its also hot up in the hills right now and grows will come down soon. Once the season is over. It will b pig time!!. Hang in there. Its almost time. but not worth the risk to push it early.

The area was reported to buddy of mine. He just said they would fly over it or whatever and heard nothing back.

I was hoping there was water up there. I mean they wouldnt have a grow unless there was water right? iam down to go look for pigs and those bucks I saw in the area.

Those were our exact thoughts. We need to get back in that area to hunt pigs, deer, and trespassing weed growers with our .308's. Not a smart move to "Pray and spray" while trespassing. Just an open invitation for a sinus cleaning.

Thanks for your comments guys.

We find them all the time bear hunting. They have usualy cleared out by then, but we cut the water hoses, gps the sites, and report it to the wardens.

Be careful, they booby trap the sites sometimes. We see them every year around here on national forest land. Most busts are several thousand plants, with ILLEGALS seen or caught and at least one AK taken.

Boobie traps ( I love that word :smiley-mouse:) were a major concern for us.

Our hunt started at about 4am and we were in position at 5:30am. Deer where running all around us. As the sun rose we noticed the watering hole on the property was dry. ......Bone dry( Generally filled by water/spring runoff.) We did a ridge walk and felt like we were in the Hindu Kush and 12 miles of that...slipping, sliding kind of thing. Then we hiked the ridge so we where right above the grow area. We dropped in and found all kinds of pig poo and beds etc. We scared them off on our way down. All you hear are bushes, breaking branches, etc.

On our way back to the truck around 12pm we jumped a bunch of deer in the oaks half way up the mountain. They started running away from us then I used the sling shot trick and launched some rocks in front of them. They came running back but they didnt come in the clear we didnt get a shot. But way worth our time we had lots of fun.
