so is there any plants or just left over trash. Many times u have ti go up hill to find a dam or a pit used to hold water. they than pump the water down hill to the crops. Depending on the size of the grow, they could or could not be bringing in water. If its real big there is no way to bring in that much water and stay on the down low. If its small and just a few plants you should b able to see how they were watering each of them one at a time. If u see drip line laid out and plants still there. Just track the line back to the pumps and u will also find the water. good luck next time. Stay after it and be safe.

Hey thanks for the info. There are no plants. Just a crap load of trash they hiked up and left behind. I imagine the sprayers were for insecticides or fertilizers or both.

I will have to go back and trace the black pipe. I hope there is water or at least a wet spot. We all like " wet spots" :bag-on-head:

Hogwild, from your photos, it looks like maybe, last years crop site, maybe even a bust site. LEO only remove as much as they can and concentrate on the crop, sometimes leaving the piping or infrastructure which they cut up so it can't be reused. Water can be brought in from as far as a mile away to grow sites, so a water source might not be easily visible. The ILLEGALS leave mountains of trash, human waste and do damage to the environment, as well as start illegal fires. I have been told by LEO's that I know, the feds and local agencies focus on big grow sites and only have so much money for boots on the ground, helo ops and equipment. I heard they sometimes just bring in a dozer, dig a big hole and bury the crop and debris because it is too expensive to haul out to a burn site.

The San Luis Obispo Sheriff's Office says Mexican drug cartels are rooting themselves into the county by force when it comes to illegal marijuana grows. "You're not going to say anything. You're not going to do anything. If you do, we're going to kill you or we're going to kill your family," narcotics detective Greg Beuer says ranchers living in San Luis Obispo County have received that exact threat from cartels wanting to use their land to grow marijuana.
"It's the real thing. It's not just happening in Mexico, it happens up here too," said Beuer.

The impact from these operations continues to pile up.
"There's been a number of forest fires started by grows. There's been several homicides over the last couple years," said Beuer.
And stopping it is a relentless effort.
"When you see the extent of land we have out here, open land, it is a needle in a hay stack trying to find these," said Beuer.

We found the lower camp last november or december while buddy and I were quail hunting. The lower camp which I believe one of the security guys where. Mountains of mexican canned food etc.

We did several miles of radius on the south end of the grow site and found nothing. Next time we will check the north end of the grow site.

Crazy article.

Be careful shooting pigs in/near/around grow sites. Typically, these folks use some harsh pesticides that pigs will have access to. Just enough to make the pig sick, but not kill it. If you eat this tainted meat, you'll be exposed to the pesticides too. Never a good thing to bleed uncontrolably on the inside...

I ve found a lot of grow sites in the mtns I hunted...reported to the sheriff and theyjust make a note of it to fly above....

Now u mentioned that u ran into pigs....well if there's pigs...there's water somewhere...and if u find that water...u found a honey hole...but than again...I would think twice and maybe take DFG_Bear advice on the pesticides in the pig systems if where ever the water hole is at might of been used by the growers

I appreciate the info guys. If you thought pig hunting was fun you should try hunting "trespassing growers :mooning:" they are a lot more fun to shoot.
