Great job and story.
I can't wait until I am able to get one. Now, just stay over a week and cook us some steaks at CR!

Great to have you back Speck! You did a heck of a job on that Elk. It 's good to hear you finally scored. Your freezer must be bursting at the seams!

Great story too. I can't wait to see the rest of the pictures.

Congratulations on a great elk. My dad and I are in the planning stages for a 2004 elk hunt. Thanks for all of the details in your story.

Awesome Speck, I'm very happy to hear that your hard work and persistence this year paid off. If anybody deserves a nice bull elk, it would be you!

I'm going to Lone Pine this weekend to tag along with my buddy that drew an antlerless tag.

Sounds like fun, Scott.

Carry a couple of spare knives (or your sharpener). Man, I thought hogs were tough on a blade!

Oh, on a side note...

I had mentioned helping the self-guided hunter bone and pack his elk. Well, in the mail on Saturday I had an envelope from Bass Pro Shops. He had sent me a gift certificate to show his appreciation. How cool is that (totally unnecessary, but cool)?

Sorry... I left them over at Mudwalker's house. I'll get them scanned in by tomorrow night, how's that?

I guess that will be okay. You need to remember that some of us have very little in life. It's the little things that get us through.

I see that your hunt was guided? Why don't you, do a rating on the hunt you received. The rest of us need to know about the good outfitters before we plunk down our hard earned cash and valuable vacation time. You'd be doing your guide a favor by giving him a good rating, if he deserves it. No cost to you, check it out… www.huntingconsultant.com

Good idea, Burgerman. I gave Hyatt a pretty good rating, due not only to the successful hunt but to the very well-run operation he's got going up there.

If you haven't already, you can learn more about my experience with Hyatt on my website. The link is posted above, or you can just click the WWW button under my post.
