After walking about 15 minutes in the total darkness before shooting time yesterday I found a nice spot to setup as the sky began to brighten. As I sat in absolute silence I noticed I had a friend in the bush next to me. I don't mean to get too sappy over it, but it was a real nice way to start the day. Anyway, I checked this pic when I got home and, while I like the image, this is one of those shots that might need something extra.

What do you think? I can't quite see that perfect crop, or know what color boost might give that early morning anticipation and calm that was heavy in the air...any thoughts? Or do I just leave it and move on...

That's a really cool picture. I like the way you did the last one.

anyone notice that the brush almost looks like the outline of a deer head looking to the right? And the praying mantis is basically hanging from what would be the antlers ?

Foulshot, you've got a good eye, looks good. As you can tell by my previous posts I was having a bit of a mental breakdown...err...mental block.

Otto...Why blurr then sharpen? What do you gain, seems odd, but you must have somethin' up your sleeve...

Well....when I enlarged the photo, it got very noisy so I used gaussian blur then used the history brush to sharpen up the mantis.....though I didn't do a very good job.
