Improving Upon Perfection: The New Leica Ultravid HD Binoculars
8/20/07
Allendale, New Jersey — Leica continues to set the standard for optical perfection with the introduction of its new line of binoculars: the Leica Ultravid HD. With a technologically advanced optical design, the new Ultravid HD offers a marked increase in light gathering without compromising the compactness for which the binoculars have gained such popularity. The new Ultravid HD binocular will be available in a variety of models to fit the needs of every outdoor enthusiast: 8x32, 10x32, 7x42, 8x42, 10x42, 8x50, 10x50 and 12x50.
The newly designed optical system in the Utlravid HD binocular significantly increases the overall optical performance over that of previous models. For the first time, special fluorite glass is used in all the lens elements in every model. This new design and high- quality glass ensure a sharp, brilliant image with no color fringing and provides edge-to-edge contrast.
Also new to the Ultravid HD binoculars is the proprietary AquaDura™ lens coating technology. Used on all the external glass surfaces of the Leica Ultravid HD, this new coating allows water droplets on the lenses to simply run off, ensuring improved vision even in inclement weather conditions. This new coating also allows the lenses to be cleaned more easily. Additionally, an improved prism coating that provides an increased overall light transmission has been applied to the new Ultravid HD binoculars. The result is a brighter image in any viewing situation, even at dawn and dusk when the light is poor.
With all of the new improvements the new Ultravid HD retains its user-friendly ergonomics. The operating elements are designed to be completely reliable under even the most extreme weather conditions, so the binocular can be used for extended periods of time without causing eye fatigue. Shielded by a shock-absorbent rubber armoring, the Ultravid HD is rugged and well protected from damage. This slip-proof armor ensures a sure grip and easy handling even while wearing gloves. All models are nitrogen purged and water tight, submersible to five meters.
Unlike any binocular currently on the market, the new Ultravid HD binoculars will be available at retailers November 2007.
