Indoboar,
Congratulations!!!!! And welcome to JHO......probably the biggest hunting forum in the world right now.
Thanks for the picture and the story. Very, very nice boar. The tusks and the face look mean and ready for a fight........definitely an exciting animal to harvest. Kindly post on the recipe you use to cook the delicious porkie meat and how it taste. Also what area of Indonesia do you hunt???? In the Philippines, the southern most islands(Jolo Island is the biggest of the southermost islands) are majority Muslim population and since the Muslims do not eat pork, the wild pigs proliferate and multiply on Jolo Island and sometimes are seen walking down the city street without fear(this is 3rd hand information so I am just repeating it). Anyway that is a very nice looking wild boar. We would appreciate anymore hunting stories and pictures from your part of the world. 'Nuff said and God Bless.

That's a cool looking boar. I never knew there was much of a gun / hunting culture in Indonesia. are there any other animals that you hunt? I have been to Thailand a couple of times but could never find any info on hunting. any time I ask people looked at me like I was crazy.

wow those were a lot of question guys....
first of all i would like to tell how i got the boar.
i am from the east java area, we do have a lot of ways to hunt wild boars. starting from tree stand, spotlighting, chasing with dogs, or even trapping. for me, i prefer hunting from the stand or spotlighting.
i was hunting from the treestand, (we use plastic ropes that is attached to empty sack as a tree stand(kinnda like hammock) watching a rice paddy field, at about 11pm i was saw a black shadow moving in to the rice field, but i didnt get a chance to shoot since i make a stupid noise from my jacket catching on a branch. i went down from the treestand since it's about midnite. after that i went spotlighting a cassava field that is also rooted by the boar. i saw a huge boar that were trying to escape from about 30 meters then i put a single bullet on the back, the boar squealling and rolled on the ground, to make sure he wont be escapping, i put another bullet that struck the neck area and he went down for good.

indonesia has the biggest muslim population in the world, so wild pig is abundant here. in java area, 80 kg is considered a huge boar, but in the borneo and sumatra 150 kg or more still can be found. in indonesia, pig is considered as pest, a friend of my dad went to borneo to hunt, he got about 120 pigs in a week only from spotlighting from a jeep, btw he only shoot the one that is over 60kgs.

the boar was cooked as red curry and satay in my family owned restaurant, i will ask my cook how about the recipe.

gun and hunting culture is not as free as in the states, pigs is the only animal that is legal to hunt in indonesia, we have no season, no bag limit, but the permit is issued every month for 10days.

for tigers, i havent seen any tigers in the wild during my life, but i encountered a leopard once, my dad encountered a panther was chasing a deer during his hunting trips.
