Took 3 pair of binoculars on my pig/sheep hunt yesterday. The primary was a nice 7 x 50 that cost 100+ dollars. It worked well. I also tested a 12 x 25 compact Simmons that I got as a gift on Xmas and it was terrible. I'll use it as a weight on my crab nets. The Bushnell Powerview binoculars were incredible, superb optical qualities all around. I was amazed. Not quite as good as the 7 x 50, but they fit easily into my shirt pocket and don't weigh anything at all. The 7 x 50's are good for glassing from the truck but the weight and size is really a problem during a long hike.

If you want an inexpensive pair of binoculars that fit in your pocket and will do very well when you're out and about on a hunt, try the Bushnell Powerview 8 x 21. They cost about 14 bucks at Amazon and even less thru Ebay. I'm taking them now anytime I hunt. So often in the past, on pig or wild bull hunts, I leave binoculars behind simply due to the weight factor. I don't think these binoculars weigh more than 4 or 5 ounces, if that.

Serving pig backstraps Hawaiian style tonight, crockpot cooked in ti leaves. Will go out in my skiff tomorrow and try for some Kona crabs, mahi mahi, and maybe an ono. Possibility of some sort of tuna, too. But then again, considering how my fishing has been over the past year, I may come home with what I went out with and nothing more.

Aloha for now.
