My relative drew an antlerless tag for Unit 74 in Nevada, and is looking for my help. Unfortunately I had told him Unit 72 (which I knew well) and he put 74 in as a second choice. The area is around Jackpot and I am scrambling to figure out where to start scouting for him. Any help?

You are correct, but my brother is a Reno resident. He wanted to hunt elk with his bow, and I told him it was almost a sure thing if he went archery. Area 72 I could have zeroed him in, 74 next door is a mystery to me.

I would cut in just South of Jackpot and head towards L&D Mnt. then cut North towards Grassy Mnt. and scirt the boarder. Watch your GPS because the roads scirting the boarder go in and out of Idaho without you knowing sometimes. Most of the gates have a Orange marker though to help. All that area is very nice and holds elk. You can make good sneaks around L&D though with the trees and terrain. Elk hunted it last year with my boy and loved the area. Good Luck

You can actually come in from several places depending on if your camping or staying up in Jackpot. We set up camp just above Gully Ranch next to their resevoir dam and would take off from there towards Grassy Mountain and then drop South to L&D or Ellen D Mountain. I normaly head North out of Deeth follwoing Pole Creek past Tabor and on up into the O'Neil Basin. Either that or go in at James Creek/Boise Reservoir and make your way up from there.
