We just finished up a three day hunt for four outstanding ladies at Vandenberg. We were on hogs from the first minute to the last minute of the hunt. Everyone got shots and we managed to hang three hogs on the hook by the last evening: one 90 lb. dry sow, and two boars. One gutted out at 125 lbs. (see article) and the other one went 150 lbs. gutted.

There was a wonderful response from the shooting fraternity and an incredible thanks goes to Vickie Gardner of Alpen Optics. If you have a chance, look over their product line.

The women were treated to lunch with Kurt Russell on Friday during a winery tour as well. Everyone went home tired but happy with new friends made all around. Steve outdid me on the hunt, but that's just the way it goes. Steve was outstanding!

A big thank you to: Rod Peoples, Air Force Retired, Josh Ford, Navy Retired, Josh Leard, Navy active duty and Nick Reisbeck, DoD civilian. I know I missed others but I'm over fifty so entitled to forget stuff.

See the article coming out in the Western Outdoor News. The link below was for the local paper.

Allan in the article, it mentions "tracking station" does that mean South Base, which would indicate SLC 6, trannquillion peak/ and or Oak mtn or area's outside of VAFB if i'm not mistaken. I didn't think you were too fond of South base for pigs but I know they have them, just extremely rough country. Or maybe Bishop just south of casmaiia which I know holds lots of pigs?

I've looked at a lot of pictures from the rod and gun club before YOU got there and it used to be a great place to hang out and BS and go on hunts. Your solely responsible for bringing it back and I hope it continues for many years.

I'll be back come October hopefully

North Base around the Vandenberg Tracking Station off Bishop road. We did hunt there, but only one hog came out of there. Two came out of area C1 (used to be area 3) and one came out of area B4 (used to be area 2). Much of south base is closed indefinitely for UXO removal.

Vickie Gardner is good people. Alpen makes a couple pairs of pink binoculars where a percentage of the company's profits on them go to breast cancer research. It totally didn't surprise me to see her involved in this hunt.

+1. What a difference a day makes. I was up there the day before the hunt and the wind blew me out, didn't even see many deer.
