nice idea. got to love photo shop. cool that he says he has lost him self and he is not there anymore. so he erased himself but left the shoes. kind of cool.

Very similiar to the popular "Levitation" photos, popular on Flickr. Two images one with the person, and one with only the shoes. You use a layer mask, and "paint" black, which removes the person, and reveals the layer below (which only has the shoes). The tricky part is removing the body, without deleting the shoes.

Or you take two photos, slice and splice which is easier and faster.
