I can see the desert side of Tejon from my front yard and it is very white. More storms due this weekend, so they should get even more snow. I think the POR's are a "rain or shine" deal. From what I saw last year I wouldn't even want to be near some of those roads in the rain, much less when there's snow on the ground

So here is a stupid question, what do you do if it is snowing? Still hunt the pigs and how do the pigs react when it is snowing? I imagine it must be too cold for them so they just sit somewhere waiting the storm out.

I'm sure that when the weather is blowing hard and nasty, the pigs are like any other critters and bed down through the worst of it. But my limited experience suggests that they get right back out when the wind dies out. They don't seem to be too bothered by the cold.

Consider the country the Russian Boar comes from. Wild pigs are hearty animals.

That 'ole hog should cool down quickly after you gut it, and you'll have plenty of ice to pack it in on the way home. Sounds like perfect hunting weather.

Cooler weather and snow has been known to push them down to lower elevations. Not so much as elk but you get the idea. Might not be a bad time to hunt the desert area of Tejon.

If it helps any the whole southside of the San Jouquin valley has snow on the mountains from about hwy 166 area on north around Tejon, Tehachapi, & Greenhorn mountains, a guy I work with lives at about 5500 feet in Bear valley & he's got 6-7 inches in his yard.

I would think that would be good hunting. Hogs in the snow. They will stand out and you can see fresh sign. You can track. They drag easier.

With the next POR the last of Jan and the next Turner hunt in mid Feb I guess that puts us up next.

Our guided hunt starts on Jan 20th.

Maybe there will be some snow then.
