Is the .260 too light for pigs?

Anyone used a .260 Remington or lighter caliber on pigs. I have a Mountain Rifle that I am fond of. I would load some 140 Partitions of A-Frames (if I had to). I guess the 156 grain Norma Oryx is an option also. Whacha think?

The 260 will work just fine some 140gr NP will = dead pig.

My buddy dropped one down here in Tx PDQ with a well placed Rem Core lokt out of his .260 Rem.

As a young man I have dropped pigs with a 22 LR we had a real problem on our property as I was growing up. Shot placement is critical with any weapon, but a 260. Will be just fine with a well placed shot!!

Yes, I think the 260 Rem is a crackerjack cartridge for piggies. I'm in the planning phases

of building a lightweight mountain rifle in that exact caliber.

I'll probably stick with the Barnes 140 for my porcine work.

Not having done any pig hunting but iching to try, I have heard they are hard to put down. Just checking with the experts before I run off and make one mad with a non-lethal shot. Seems like guys are using the magnums. I totally agree that shot placement is the key and that was my concern shooting through the front shoulders.

Can anyone recommend a place on the coast (west) for a family type hog hunt that is reasonable? Looking to go in the spring.

The .260 works fine. I have taken a few with the Remington 140 core-lokt's.

I shot a 125 lb. pig in March up near Hollister running away up hill at 75 yards using H4831 SC and 140 grain Nosler Partition bullet out of a M-7 in 260 and he dropped in his tracks.
