Simple. If you don't have anything good to say then move along. The buzzkillers are no longer welcome here. The elk was shot using fair chase according to B&C.

Can we get back on topic now?

SacFire, check Doyle's site for the release. http://www.mossback.com/[/b]

Where in the rules is it that we can't be "Buzzkills"? There's a lot of questions about how this bull was taken, mainly if public roads were blocked going into the area to ensure this high-roller client was the only one able to get a shot when the time came.

This type of money and practices on public land won't get blind acceptance and praise from me. Call me a buzzkill all you want.

Unless you can prove the allegations you're not welcome here to bash the hunter by making false accusations. B&C signed off on it so I'm going with that. Many of us have grown weary when someone, not from here, shoots a nice animal and they get picked apart on how they did it or how much money they paid for the guide. Or they get picked apart in how much they charge for a hunt or seminar.

I've passed the word to other mods and admins we need do some better monitoring of the buzzkillers and if need be, some housecleaning. Members have emailed and PMed us over this issue and we will take what steps are necessary to stop it.

Thank you,

Now back to the topic, the new WR elk.

Jesse, I'm sorry that one of my previous posts "was not up to standards" I can understand It's hard to draw the line on topics like these. I must say that It's a wonderful trophy and I guess all of us can get a little jelous, I know I am. It's kind of sad to see the bull go, wish he could have died a majestic death by itself in the wild. Heres another article I found on the topic.

======================================================

Dennis Austad of Ammon, Idaho, with the new world record American non-typical bull elk he killed on Monroe Mountain in Utah in September 2008. (Mossback Guides and Outfitters)It's official.

A behemoth male elk dubbed the "Spider bull," taken by a hunter on Monroe Mountain in central Utah last fall, carried the largest antler rack ever recorded by the Boone and Crockett (B&C) Club and has been recognized as the new world record for a nontypical American elk.

headshot243, is there a source for that article? If it's copyrighted we CANNOT allow the complete article here. Forum rules are you can post 2 paragraphs and a link to the source unless you have the copyright owner's permission.

State Fish & Game articles are USUALLY okay to copy and paste since they are government but you may need to check.

Thank you

headshot223. I fixed your post so it's just a couple paragraphs and a link. Almost every news publication I know is copyrighted so you need to respect that. And yes, we do get cease and desist requests here when someone uses copyrighted material.

Thanks

I agree with Jesse on this one (and thank you for not kicking me off).

I find it hard to believe that 30 bowhunters and 30 muzzleloader hunters all went after this same bull and it survived, without a little help. But I’m pretty sure that Boone & Crockett did a large investigation on this bull and the hunt. If B&C cleared it and entered the bull as #1, that’s good enough for me.

Congrats again to the hunter.

Tell you what I couldn't have hit this elk if I had 20 chances. They did some study and your heart beat is going 50 beats faster then normal. You'd have to carry de-fibs to even keep my heart goin after seein that caliber of a bull in the wild.

This is one reason I wouldn't want to shoot or even report killing a large buck or elk or anything. All the clueless jackals who come out afterward. Reminds me of a neighbor in MO (Randy Simonitch) who snuck up on a large wtail (190+ P&Y) in a beanfield with his bow and whacked it. Suddenly every wannabe on the forums was claiming it was a sick deer, or it had been hit by a car. No one could sneak up on a buck like that in a beanfield they ranted. Total BS since not ONE of them was there or even had a clue. One azzhat claimed beans never grew that high to pull the sneak. Obviously he hadn't walked in the beans in Lincoln county MO that fall because I had to lift my bow as I walked, they were so high.

If you don't know the facts of the hunt how can you come in here and besmirch somene's name with your baseless allegations? Trust me, the word is B&C curry combed everything about that hunt so they wouldn't end up with egg on their face.

So the guy has some money and can buy some help, I'd do it in a heartbeat if that is what I wanted and had the money. And let's not BS each other, so would many in here. If they cheated and blocked roads or interfered with other hunters then the proof needs to brought forward and the bull DQed. Until them some folks need to hold their venom and hate.

Yeah, you're sposed to be welcome to post your opinions here, but when you go over the line and trash someone with your so called opinions or allegations it's not going to fly. Why would it? Would you like it if the shoe were on the other foot?

Monster bull to be sure. He was lucky not to be hounded to death. I guess if "BC" accepts it then.... but if it was Utah there where more like 30 in each canyon

As stated above...I guarantee B&C covered every little detail on the hunt for this amazing animal. Again congrats to Denny and Team Mossback but most importantly thanks to the big guy upstairs for creating such awesome animals for us hunters to chase and view in the great outdoors!
