hi all....
i just got back from hunting and got 1 boar around 160lbs
i was hunting in the mountain area in the eastern tip of java island.
the location is full with mountainous terrain. i was leaving on thursday morning. i got in the location around noon, then i was informed that there are boar destroying the rice field in the ridge. the rice was pretty thick and tall, its about my chest height. after about an hour walk i was arrived at the site. i check little bit for the signs and i saw a lot of feeding sign. after that i was waiting in the small ridge facing the rice field( about 100m lazered).
around 6pm, the sun is completely set( we it is legal to hunt during night and using spotlight). since it was no light, we( me and my friend who helped hold the spotlight for me) were just listening to the sound. around 630, i heard a little noise something was chomping the rice. after listened and try to get the right direction, finally we were confirmed the pigs were eating the rice. we blasted the night with the lightforce, then we saw nothing, since the rice was pretty tall and thick. the sounds stopped. then after we turned off the light, the sound backed again.
it was happend 2 or three times, it was frustrating. then finally the fourth time we blasted the lightforce, i saw this boar was in the alley.
from sitting position i fired a single round of a 130grn winchester silvertip from my 270 win. then i could heard a solid hit reply. i cant see anything because of the smokes( dunno why i got plenty of smokes that nite), i saw nothing and i heard nothing beside the solid hit.
i called for a back up to find the boar, we saw plenty of blood in the site, i was relaxed, i know i hit it good. after following the blood trail, we saw the boar lie still about 50 m from the shooting spot.
after the autopsy, we found out my bullet hit the lung and destroyed it and went out, i never found the bullet.
after that we have to carry the boar to the car, it was tiring, but it's worthed....
i hope u guys enjoy my little experience and sorry for the bad english..

Nice hog. You are blasting them over there. Your story reminds me of my hunts back home. I have an Indonesian friend/co-worker that kept inviting me to go to Indonesia with him. I thought about hooking up with you for a hunt if I do go with him. Thanks for sharing and congrats on the pig.

Good story and well done! The reason you saw "smoke" was the ammonia in the powder reacting to moisture in the air. I'm assuming it was humid or close to the dew point. Seen that before. Weird phenomenon.
