Javelina territory

A question for some of you more expensed Jave hunters on the board. I have been reading up on these criters and have read they cover 750 to 1000 acres. Do you see them passing through the same area on a regular basis or does there route\living area very a lot? I Plan on spending as much time as possible out in the field to find out personally hopefull this year just hoping I might be able to take from others experiences instead of learning the way I normally learn via the school of hard knocks.

I am currently hunting in Arizona and the rains have put a damper on my hunt and I have not been able to spend the time in the field I was hoping to. So I have been tring to find as much info as I possible can. I will be out at least 1 day ever weekend and hopefull the most of the last week of the month. However in between then an info I can get on these criters to get the 1 up on them all the better.

Havotec, I posted an answer over on JHO events, but thought I would tell you anyway. I think Javelina stay in about a 1 mile or so square. What works best for me is just get on a high spot and glass a lot. On a cold morning if you can find a hill that faces toward the e-se where the sun will come up on it that works pretty good.

I just got back from Arizonia and I found the same group of Javies 5 days in a row within 1/4 of a mile of where I first ran upon them. Although I did notice that with the more presure that I put on them they seemed to change their feeding habits and times. Some mornings they seemed to get out a little earlier than other days. But I have also been out and have not been able to find them after other people have seen them the day before. I do believe that the weather can play a big part in how far they will roam around.

We will be hunting in 34A Feb 18 to 24. From what I have been reading here and on AZ forums is the javelina population has grown. Good birth rate in this area, a lot of water. Greenvalley and Arivaca and surrounding areas of Tumacacori have gotten goood rain. This is probably the only area in Southern Az that gets most of the rain. My mom and dad in south Tucson get squat.....

Lush vegetation and a lot of water in the creeks, along with the washes being widened out due to flooding.
